My training plan changes from week to week depending on work and family schedule first and then what I want to work on. I always try to follow a couple of general rules, though:

1. Plan a hard ride for either a Saturday or Sunday, which are my typical race days for mountain biking.

2. Don't have any more than 1 'off' day a week unless its either a rest week or my work/family schedule just doesn't allow for it.

3. Don't plan more than 3 days of training rides in a row (recovery ride doesn't count).

I've tweaked my approach to planning my training on several occasions. If you're scheduling your plan each week like I do, remember to look out 10 days to make sure this week's plan lines up well with next week's plan. I've ran into issues where I schedule all my hard rides for the tail end of the current week which doesn't allow me to ride until Monday or Tuesday (my training week always starts on Sunday), making it challenging to fit everything in.  If you click on the individual events that have passed, I've posted my Strava data in the descriptions. If it's not there, I wasn't successful in completing the plan.
